On the morning of September 12, the School of Business, Hunan University held its welcoming ceremony for the students of 2026 in the Yifu Building Auditorium. Dean Yang Zhi attended and delivered a speech. Zhang Yuejun, Party Secretary of the School, attended and presented appointment letters to undergraduate class advisors. College leaders, including Wang Gangjin, Zhang Long, and Chen Yan, attended the ceremony. Deputy Party Secretary of the School Li Enjun presided over the event. New undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral students of the year, along with undergraduate class advisors and counselors, attended the ceremony.

Dean's Address

Under the title "Rooted in China, Understanding the World," Dean Yang Zhi delivered a speech. He offered an in-depth analysis of the opportunities and challenges facing business professionals in an era where globalization and artificial intelligence are intertwined. Focusing on "how to become business professionals with global competence" he offered three aspirations to the students: understand the world through comparison and form judgments amid differences; understand each other through communication and build trust through cooperation; solve problems through practice and create value through responsibility. He encouraged students to leverage the platforms built by the School's three international accreditations—EQUIS, AACSB, and AMBA—to cultivate an openness to differences, sharpen independent thinking, acquire the wisdom of collaboration, and embrace the responsibility of creating value for society through exchanges, cooperation, and choices.

Faculty Representative's Speech

Faculty representative Wang Liyan from the Department of Organizational Innovation and Strategy shared her academic and teaching experiences. She encouraged students to carry forward the scholarly ethos of "knitting knowledge with action," the pragmatic orientation of "applying learning to practice," and the contemporary imperative of "upholding fundamental principles while breaking new ground." She urged them to integrate their professional development into national strategic needs and write a new chapter for the hundred-year legacy of business education at this millennium-honored academy.

Two newly enrolled student representatives, undergraduate student Li Yangrui and graduate student Chen Zhiqiang, delivered speeches in turn. Drawing on their personal experiences, they shared their joy at realizing their dream of studying at Hunan University and their aspirations for the future. They called on all students of the year to carry forward the School's spirit of "Unity of Knowledge and Practice; Advancing with Integrity" to take learning as their vessel and virtue as their sail, and to strive to become leading business professionals of the new era who apply learning to practice.
