The Business Administration program is designed to address the evolving demands of business education brought by new-millennium technological changes, social transformations, and international competition. The program highlights areas on intelligent manufacturing, internet +, cultural confidence, and other national strategies and industrial development trends. The goal is to cultivate high-caliber managers who meet the need of modern enterprise management and have critical practical skills, decision-making capabilities, strategic operational concepts, an international vision, and leadership skills. The program was originated from the major of Enterprise Management which was founded in 1980. It was renamed as Business Administration in 1998 and established as a key program at Hunan’s higher education institutions in 2001. The program has been recognized for its excellent performance during key discipline rankings of Hunan Province since 2006. In 2010, it was established as a national featured program. In 2012, it ranked 12th in the third round of discipline ranking by the Ministry of Education. In 2015, it was awarded for excellence during the assessment on centers for post-doctoral studies by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security. It has been acknowledged as a world-renowned five-star program by the Airuishen Alumni Network for four years in a row. In 2017, it was granted with an A- rating in the fourth round of discipline ranking. In 2019, it was included in the national Double Ten Thousand Plan as a first-class program and was also selected as a provincial first-class undergraduate program. In 2019, it ranked first in the overall evaluation of undergraduate business administration programs in Hunan.

The program is dedicated to educating international professionals and offers the China-Vietnam Joint Training Project, China-Germany International Cooperation Project, and specialized classes conducted exclusively in English for international students. The program maintains traditions of Hunan culture and looks forward to the future; inherits heritage and forges ahead with innovation; and, takes root in the local culture with a global perspective. The integration of the past and present, inheritance and innovation, and local culture and international landscape, has bestowed upon the program a profound historical legacy and a certain industry influence. The program has been built on the characteristics of an innovative environment of professional training, a specific direction for internationalization development, a team of high-quality faculty and staff, and an objective of cultivating exceptional individuals with an innovation mindset. An innovation-driven personnel training mode has been further developed.
