On the morning of 10thJune, the 2022 Graduation Ceremony and Degree Awarding Ceremony of the Business School was held in the auditoriumof Hunan University on the theme of ‘Youth Blossom and Strive to Be the Best’. Vice DeanXie Chi, former Vice Dean Yang Shenggang, Business School leaders Yang Zhi, Liu Xidong, Zhou Zhongbao, Zhang Yuejun, Liu Zhao, Jiang Yanhui, Wang Feng, and He Xun, Deputy Secretary of the School Party Committeeof Mechanical and Vehicle Engineering School, attended the ceremony. Yi Hongbo, Deputy Secretary of the School Party Committeeof Business School, presided over the meeting.
On behalf of Hunan University, Xie Chi congratulated all the graduates. He pointed out that every business student must dare to innovate, create, and pursue breakthroughs at the new historical juncture. We should make contributions to ourselves, and create glory for the school and the country. Students must bear in mind the university motto of ‘seeking truth from facts, and daring to be pioneers’. We must continue to overcome obstacles and win victories; we must dedicate to the national development and national rejuvenation; we mustlocate the direction of efforts and realize the value of life in the torrent of the times that promotes the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation; we mustcare a lot about our country, integrate self into big issues, bravely shoulder the burden, live up to the times; we must aim at the urgent needs of the country’s major strategies, focus on the frontier areas of the development of the science and technology industry; we must face difficulties, climb the peak bravely, and take the initiative to take on the mission of the times to build a strong country in science and technology; we must dare to be creative, develop new businesses in emerging fields that promote the high-quality development of the national economy;we must take the initiative to undertake the historical mission of building a powerful modern socialist country.
Dean Yang Zhi focused on reviewing the growth and achievements of graduates in the keynote speech of ‘Live up to your time and strive to be a leading business talent in the new era’.He also looked back at the development of the Business School and discipline construction, fully affirming students’ achievements. In the face of various challenges, students embraced the age, were not afraid of difficulties and dangers, and were unwilling to slack off or fall into the rat race. Rather, they deliveredwonderful answers in their youth. He emphasized that the students should keep in mind the entrustment from President Xi Jinping, live up to their youth, and the great entrustment of the times. They should actively carry forward the spirit of the business students of Hunan University, bravely stand in the forefront of the times,and be diligent people uniting knowledge and action; they should be pioneers who are honest and innovative, open and inclusive; they should be a devotee of the country and the world who pursue spirits of sages, lead the times.
Professor Zhang Yuejun, in the Department of Management Science, sent a farewell message to the graduates as a teacher representative. He said that in the past few years, the students have experienced the changes of the times, the development of the university, and the progress of the school.And they have experienced the profound culture of a thousand-year-old academy and a century-old business school.Their academic vision, academic taste, professional ability, comprehensive quality, and patriotism have been steadily improved. The students have injected youthful vitality into the development of the school and team building.Professor Zhang Yuejun said the school looked forward to the performance of everyone in the days to come.He hoped students will always maintain the enthusiasm for living up to their youth and working hard, the passion for not being afraid of adversity and taking advantage of the situation, and the zeal for dedicating themselves and taking responsibility. In the face of involution, young people can’t give up their struggle orlet themselves go to seed. Chinese youth should sing the magnificent song of youth with enthusiasm so that youth will shine in the Chinese dream of realizing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
Six graduate representativesof different majors and ages shared their stories separately.Undergraduates of 2018 grade, Dong Haowen in Business Administration, Zhou Xubing in accounting, Wei Lai in Information Management and Information System; Grade of 2019 at master’s level students Zeng FupinginManagement Science and Engineering and Yang Yi, an MBA student; and Hu Wenjun, a master majoring in Accounting of 2020 grade, respectively, told their stories of continuing studies at home or abroad, serving the rural revitalization at the grassroots level, participating in the foreign affairs work of provincial departments, and going to well-known enterprises to for project management.
At the ceremony, the student representatives sang the original song ‘1822 Journal’, and the teacher representatives sang the song ‘Goodbye’. VCRs on teacher blessings, graduate speeches, and alumni interviews were interspersed during the whole ceremony.
Afterward, the leaders and the supervisors of Business Schoolturned the tassel for the graduates.The graduates thanked the supervisors and posed for group photos.
