2023 International Conference on Climate and Energy Finance Held in HNU

The 2023 International Conference on Climate and Energy Finance (ICEF) kicked off in Changsha on the morning of June 3. The conference was jointly hosted by the China Climate Finance Network of Chinese Society of Optimization, Overall Planning and Economic Mathematics and the Energy Finance Committee of the International Society for Energy Transition Studies (ISETS), and organized by Hunan University. With the theme of "New Trends in Climate Finance Under the Carbon Neutrality Target, " the conference gathered more than 500 experts and scholars from over 120 renowned universities and research institutions worldwide including the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Tsinghua University, Peking University, National University of Singapore, Kyushu University in Japan, and the University of Notre Dame in the United States. They conducted a discussion on new trends, new topics, and new achievements in the development of climate finance under the carbon neutrality goals.

The ICEF featured 59 thematic sub-forums, focusing on climate change and energy market, clean energy development, industrial paths to achieve carbon neutrality goals and other topics. The event aimed to build a high-end platform for international academic exchanges in the field of climate and energy finance, to promote the development of climate and energy finance discipline in China, and to explore new ideas, new methods, new practices , and new discoveries for the implementation of "working actively and prudently toward the goals of reaching peak carbon emissions and carbon neutrality" proposed in the report of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China. This would contribute to China's response to global climate change and participation in global climate governance.
