The Fifth International Symposium on Interdisciplinary Accounting Research, undertaken by the Business School of Hunan University, was held in Changsha on November 3 and 4. With the theme of "Accounting and Finance Research in the Era of Sustainable Development", scholars from dozens of globally renowned universities and research institutes at home and abroad, including Fudan University, Zhejiang University, Wuhan University, the Chinese University of Hong Kong, the University of Macau, Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University, and Central University of Finance and Economics, attended. They discussed the development trends, topics, and achievements of interdisciplinary accounting and finance in the era of sustainable development.
Professor Steven Dellaportas from Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University, Professor Li Qingyuan from Wuhan University, and Professor Zeng Xiaoliang from Southern University of Science and Technology, delivered keynote speeches. They shared ideas on the challenges faced by Chinese accounting scholars in publishing English-language academic papers, the relationship between social capital and employee resilience within an organization, and a review of the paths of ESG development in the field of accounting, respectively.
The meeting received more than 70 submissions from the global accounting and finance field, and 12 papers were finally selected as conference reports after strict evaluation by the conference expert group. The sub-forums of the symposium were comprehensively discussed around four different themes: ESG, stakeholders, corporate governance, and cross-cutting research.
The conference was hosted via both online graphic livestreaming and offline meetings. The livestreaming received over 50,000 views, attracting widespread attention from experts and scholars at home and abroad.
