Data Science and Distributed Management Research Center

Introduction

The focus of the center is on studying basic theories and key technology breakthroughs and their management application of digital society, digital economy, digital government, digital finance, and high-performance distributed computing. The center integrates new-generation information technologies including the Internet, the Internet of Things, blockchain, cloud computing, and big data. There are four research directions: 1. Blockchain technology and digital finance; 2. Distributed management system and distributed energy management; 3. Distributed innovation and distributed supply chain management; and 4. Computing management and distributed supervision. The center is equipped with a world-class innovative interdisciplinary research team, including eight professors, twelve associate professors, and three assistant professors. The research institution cultivates professionals with bachelor's degree, master's degree, doctoral degree, and postdoctoral status while implementing the objectives of national big data strategy. It is home to platforms such as the Key Laboratory for High-performance Distributed Ledger and Digital Finance of the Ministry of Education and the Key Laboratory for Data Science and Blockchain of Hunan Province. So far, the center has been in charge of more than 40 national projects, and has published more than 400 high-level papers and 10-plus monographs and obtained more than 20 authorized patents. The center is geared towards providing innovative proposals and technical support to boost industrial technology upgrades and the transformation of business models and forms and to promote the country's high-quality economic development and social governance.

The center has four research departments involving blockchain technology and digital finance; distributed management system and distributed energy management; distributed innovation and distributed supply chain management; and computing management and distributed supervision.

The laboratories in the center include Key Laboratory for High-performance Distributed Ledger and Digital Finance of the Ministry of Education, Key Laboratory for Data Science and Blockchain of Hunan Province, and Key Laboratory for Enterprise Management and Decision Support Technology of Hunan Province.

Cooperative enterprises are Hunan Tianhe Guoyun Technology Co., Ltd. and Shenzhen CIC Supply Chain Co., Ltd.

The center is under the guidance of a director and supported by two deputy directors, collectively forming a highly efficient, skilled, and cohesive research team. It is operated and managed under the director responsibility system. Deputy directors are responsible for technology R&D and technical service, as well as the commercialization of technological achievements. The academic committee provides integrated guidance for the center to carry out academic research. Research departments take charge of making breakthroughs in relevant key technologies.

Plans

Plans and expected results for the next 3-5 years:

1. Projects: To lead one national major project, one national key project, and five national general/ youth projects.

2. Scientific research: To publish two to four papers on the A1-class and A2-class English journals designated by the school and three to five papers in A2-class Chinese journals including the Journal of Management World as the first or corresponding authors; and two proposals commented by senior leaders or accepted by the national philosophy and social science planning authority in its internal publications.

3. Scientific research award: To win one national scientific research award or teaching achievements award.

4. Talent introduction: To introduce three to five full-time teachers.

5. Talent cultivation: To nurture 1 national high-level talent recognized by the university, five full-time post-doctoral students, and 15 doctoral students.
