Accounting (including the curriculum offered)

Hunan University is one of the earliest universities in China to offer the accounting program. The accounting program of Hunan University can be traced back to the Department of Accounting Statistics of the former National Hunan University in 1937, and then extended to the accounting major of the former Hunan Institute of Finance and Economics. In 1960, Hunan University set up an undergraduate accounting program, making it one of the earliest schools in China to offer such a program. In 1987, Hunan University began to admit postgraduate students in accounting. In 1995, approved by the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Finance, and the Chinese Institute of Certified Public Accountants (CICPA), Hunan University became the second batch of units funded by the Ministry of Finance to enroll students specializing in certified public accountants (CPA). In 1997, the accounting program of Hunan University was approved as a key discipline by the Head Office of the People's Bank of China. In 2002, it was approved as a key major of Hunan Province. In 2003, Hunan University was entitled to foster doctoral students in accounting. In 2004, the university became one of the first Master of Professional Accounting (MPAcc) granting institutions in China. In 2006, the accounting program of Hunan University was approved as the key discipline of Hunan Province. In 2008, Hunan University began to pilot a program of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). In 2010, the accounting program of Hunan University was selected as a national characteristic specialty. In 2013, Hunan University established the Hunan Leading Accounting Talent Cultivation Base. In 2017, the accounting program of Hunan University won the first place and received an A-level rating in the comprehensive evaluation of undergraduate majors in Hunan Province. In 2020, it was chosen as a national first-class undergraduate major construction site. A comprehensive accounting talent training system has taken shape on the basis of the cultivation of general accounting undergraduate talents. The system features international characteristics (ACCA orientation) and key talent training projects of domestic industry associations (CICPA CPA-oriented colleges and universities), as well as a national strategic talent cultivation base (Hunan Leading Accounting Talent Cultivation Base).
