Another Case Selected for Top-Tier Business Case Library

The case titled “Vanke Port Apartment: Redesigning Business Model with Digital Technology” co-written by Associate Professor Zeng Wei from Business School of Hunan University (HNUBS), along with Professors Peng Chunyan (University of Missouri, USA) and Professor Su Ning (Ivey Business School, Canada), master’s student Zhang Sirui from HNUBS, and Xiao Xin–a partner of Xiaobo Technology (a tech subsidiary under Vanke Port Apartment)–has been included once again in the prestigious Ivey Publishing Case Library in Canada. This distinguished repository is recognized as a global top-tier case database and will now publish the case internationally.

This case serves as the follow-up to its “companion case”, Vanke Port Apartment: Making a Rental Homey with Digital Technology, published in 2021 and accepted by both the case libraries of Harvard Business School and Ivey Publishing. Over four years, the research team meticulously documented Vanke Port Apartment’s journey of digital transformation, illustrating the company’s strategic evolution from “technology empowerment” to “data-driven innovation.”

Zeng Wei led students to Vanke Port Apartment in Shenzhen to conduct on-site case teaching on the digital transformation of long-term rental apartments. Through on-site visits to the company, students gained a firsthand understanding of the latest business trends, engaged in in-depth discussions with business leaders, and thoroughly analyzed the case using their professional knowledge. This immersive learning approach closely integrates theory with practice, demonstrating the dual value of industry-education integration: it not only produces benchmark cases for the industry but also fosters practical wisdom to address industry pain points. The teaching model, which emphasizes “real problems, real data, and real feedback,” ensures that the knowledge acquired directly addresses the needs of industrial upgrading, highlighting the unique advantages of industry-education integration in cultivating practical, hands-on talent.
