Center for Enterprise Merger and Acquisition

The Center, established in 1990s, is a research institutions affiliated to the Hunan University. It’s composed of teachers in the Accounting Department and Finance Department of the school of Business Administration of Hunan University.

Merger and Acquisition (M&A) is a way of the rapid expansion of enterprises. It is of great significance to transfer property rights, optimize the allocation of resources and adjust the industrial structure. Due to the late development of China's capital market, the practice and theoretical research of M&A are less than that of IPO. At present, Chinese enterprises are integrating into global competition and joining the wave of global M&AS. In order to better serve the business practice of M&AS and support the economic reform and rapid growth of the capital market, the center firmly focuses on the international M&A practice case and the forefront of M&A academic research, based on the actual situation of the Chinese market. Striving to attract domestic and foreign outstanding scholars in the field of mergers and acquisitions research, jointing business elite who has rich experience in the practice of M&AS, the center actively explores the major theoretical and practical issues of M&AS related to the audit, accounting, finance, cost and taxation to build a high level of research institutions that set scientific research, academic research and practical exchange in one.

Missions:

The Center is mainly engaged in practical exchange, information construction, personnel training, consulting service, and scientific research and innovation work. We aim to provide academic support for the rational and innovative development of M&A practice and M&A theory in China, and cultivate excellent talents in practice, research and teaching.

The research direction of the center includes industrial upgrade and the value creation of M&A, the transnational theory and practice of M&A, the accounting practices and regulations of M&A, the M&A strategy and risk prevention, M&AS and performance evaluation, M&AS tax planning and organizational structure design.

The center is directed by Professor Xu Li-ping, who is the director of Financial Management Department, School of Business Administration, Hunan University, and is composed of a group of outstanding teachers and students from School of Business Administration. They focus on social services, and strive to create high-quality research results. They are committed to promoting the theory of M&AS of Chinese corporate, and look forward to working with domestic and foreign counterparts outstanding scholars and social practice elite to carry out exchanges and cooperation.

MPAcc Case Study
