The Opening of HNUBS’s Second Innovative Academic Seminar Week

On Jan 7, 2019, Associate Dean Zhi Yang presided over the first seminar of the research seminar’s innovative series. Hunan University Business School (HNUBS) sponsored and organized the event to show the importance of academic research and facilitate the researcher’s work. The seminar gathered Guest Speakers: Professor Yuejin Tan, Xin Chen and Sha Yang.

Professor Yuejin Tan, National University of Defense Technology, presented his research onInnovation and Research of Application and Big Data Intelligence Management.It shared the principle of Big Data intelligence management and the future challenges of management science. His examples on emergency management, intelligence communication system, history of essential state products, siting of new bank fostered the importance of Big Data. He then introduced the upcoming reform and innovation of research methods and management on management science. His presentation’s main ideas differentiated Big Data and empirical analysis modeling, combined with data and modeling for hybrid-driven modeling. In the end, he shared insights into government practices and the future of Big Data technology.

Professor Xin Chen, the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, began his Dynamic pricing and inventory control with large replenishment lead time timeswith introduction of new retailing, followed by inventory management with significant replenishment lead times and dynamic pricing.

(Professor Sha Yang)

Highest contribution from others:A Dampening effect on PWYW pricingis a research project conducted by Professor Sha Yang, University of Southern California,who interested students with the analysis of gifting on a live show and associated factors on a range of payment amount. Her study has shown that decision is formed by personal information and negative impact is possible.

HNUBS provided students advice and direction to students on academic aspects of research, modeling, field practice and social and national development. The success of the event seeks to bring credits of discipline development on social impact.
